Salary: $115,980 - $173,992

The City of Cookeville is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Finance Director to join our leadership team. This key role is responsible for managing the city's financial operations, including budgeting, accounting, revenue administration, and payroll. As a Department Head, the Finance Director will work closely with the City Manager and City Council to ensure sound financial planning and compliance with all laws and regulations.

Position Overview:

• Lead all financial activities for the City of Cookeville, including operating and capital budgets
• Oversee revenue administration, financial reporting, and payroll functions
• Ensure compliance with financial laws, ordinances, and regulations
• Provide strategic financial guidance to the City Manager and City Council
• Manage investments, annual audits, and the City’s financial reporting process

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (CPA preferred, CMFO required)
• 7+ years of progressive experience in governmental finance, with at least 5 years in a supervisory capacity
• Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills
• Familiarity with ERP systems and governmental accounting standards
